Piston Assembly
The piston assembly is the main part of the fluid end of the mud pump. The discharge pressure of the mud pump is generated by the reciprocating linear movement of the piston assembly in the cylinder liner. Small piston-high pressure and small flow; big piston-low pressure and large flow. Metric and inch pistons are used for metric and inch pumps. Generally commonly used φ170, φ160, φ150 and 6″, 6-1/2″, 7″, etc. Metric pump F800, F1000, F1300, F1600 piston is common, F500 piston inner bore is smaller than other types of piston. Inch pump F500–F1600 Pistons are universal. Metric pump F500 has a φ25.4 piston bore; F800-1300 has a φ42 piston bore and an inch piston bore φ38.1. Material: piston core 42CrMo; rubber, nitrile rubber or polyurethane.
